I need your Dicipline
I just finished a remix of Nine Inch Nails "Dicipline". It took maybe a total of 8 hours from start to finish, which is an incredibly short time.
As it just so happens, Mr. Reznor has released his entire catalog under a Creative Commons license. This is pretty awesome for some pretty obvious reasons. On top of that, for select tracks, he has provided either the multitrack format, or the component pieces.

u will get some coowl beats
Wow.
How did I ever make music without this tutorial?
How did I ever make music without this tutorial?
The first thing u need to do is download a music program.-- via Shell
I got some lined up for u:
Frooty Loops
Cool Edit Pro
Q-base
Now you need to discover them programs before you can begin
After that u need to have a good basic (Drum and Base)
With that you need some good ritme feeling(if u havent got that u can forget it tongue.gif )
Then you need to ad some really coowl sounds(hi-hats or handclaps)
If you got that right, you need to add some vibe by adding synt-sound(synthesizer)
Just do what your mind thinks of,nothing is wrong.
Just make it sound coowl and u will get some coowl beats.
Now go and good luck with making beats

Fighting over the Suck Knob, Jonnay turns it up, Shell turns it down.
I Played the 2006 Dekompression. In fact, so did shell. Not only did she DJ (which, she totally kicked ass, and I heard plenty of "I can't believe that she just started like 4 months ago) but she played the theremin for my track Parade (the "Listen to Techno" song).
Sadly however, as much as Shell totally ruled, I totally sucked. A large part of the suckage was the on-going volume/bass battles on the main mixer, a few feet away from my gear (making it a royal pain in the ass jumping between my gear, and trying to figure out what is going on at the mixer.) On top of that, someone kicked out the audio mains from the mixer into the amps... Ouch. It was an honest mistake. Playing a live show is like juggling a chainsaw, a kitten, and a bowling ball. But when you have people throwing live hand grenades into the mix at random, it makes it that much more difficult.
Bah. Why am I making excuses? Plain and simple, this time around, I fucking sucked and I fucking hate it.

2 Turntables and a sexxxy body.
Shell astounds me.
In the fall we decided to invest in turntables and a mixer for her, because she has been wanting to get into mixing. At first it was hard-going. We didn't have much in the way of vinyl so it was difficult for her to get started, but she has finally started building up a good collection.
In preparation for the Burning Man (de/re)kompression, she has been working on a 30 minute set. As I mentioned earlier, Shell has been getting better and better at beatmixing. Well, on last Friday she went to a small house party, and totally ripped it up. She had seasoned DJs complementing on the rapid acquisition of her skills.
Can't say I am surprised really.

The Jonnay Podcast
Podcasting is a way for you to subscribe to an RSS feed, and have it send you MP3z automagickally. There are all kinds of ways you can hook yourself up to podcasts, Ask Ninja for an excellent explanation of what podcasting is. iTunes supports podcasting right out of the box. Other media players... well I'm not sure. You can always download a podcast client that will download the mp3s for you and store them somewhere. Juice Receiver is open source and cross platform. Apparently the de-facto Mac podcast client is iPodderX a piece of software that is totally unavailable while going through a re-branding. (This is so completely stupid as to boggle the mind.) So if you have a mac, just get Juice Receiver, that is, if you don't want to use iTunes.
have been podcasting for ages. Any time I have a new song, a new sketch, or someone does a remix, I put it up on my "podcast"... which is to say, I put it up on my blog, and it automagickally handles the funky-techno-mojo that it takes to make it a podcast. You just have to subscribe to my regular RSS feed. Or, you can subscribe to my 'podcast' tag: http://blog.jonnay.net/rss.php?serendipity[tag]=podcast which will only contain actual podcasts.
So sign up for your Jonnay Apple Pies now.

Song Sketch: (podcast) Make It Stop
www.jonnay.net/music/HarderDrumNBass/Jonnay-MakeItStop-sketch.mp3
Just a sketch for now. The full song will be up-coming. I still need to record another vocal from Shell, and the grungy/bassy/whistly pad thing needs some work.
Hard, kick you in the ass, killing puppies dark jungle. This is another track that was co-produced by Shell (like Rhyme ) and it shows.
Shell got the idea after a fun little Harmony-on-the-mic session. At first it was just her on the mic, but then I started playing around with funky effects. Eventually it got to a point where I was giivng her voice a chorus, echo and finally a reverb, and it sounded possitively **spooky** (this is where I wish there was some kind of css rule "font-shiver: spooky").
Update: Lastest (non-sketch) version is Here
Enjoy.
